One more storm is expected before the departure of the monsoon, which will once again bring rain across the country. A high alert has been declared in Bengal and Odisha due to cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ and it may wreak havoc in these areas before Diwali.
The Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ is rapidly intensifying in the Bay of Bengal and may make landfall in the next two days.
Between the night of October 24 and the morning of October 25, this storm will pass between Sagar Island in Bengal and Puri in Odisha.
There is also a low pressure area over the East Central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining North Andaman Sea. After intensifying into a cyclonic storm on October 23, it will hit the Odisha and West Bengal coasts on October 24, packing winds of 100 to 120 kmph over the sea. The IMD has advised fishermen to stay away from beaches from October 22-25.
According to IMD, Odisha and West Bengal are likely to witness heavy to very heavy rains during October 22 to 26. Jharkhand is also likely to receive rain on October 24. Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka will also be affected by the cyclonic storm. However, the impact of this storm will be less on Gujarat.
On the other hand, due to the low pressure created in the Arabian Sea, the rain system has been activated. Due to which two systems have been activated in Gujarat and due to this universal rainfall has been predicted by the Meteorological Department.
Wind will blow at a speed of 120 KM…
Due to cyclonic storm, wind speed 35-45 to 65 kmph over east-central Bay of Bengal on October 21, 55-65 to 75 kmph till evening of October 22, 70-90 kmph from evening of October 23 to morning of October 24 Wind is likely to blow at high speed. Winds of 45-55 to 65 kmph will prevail over West Central Bay of Bengal on October 23-24. Wind speed is likely to increase to 100-110 to 120 kmph over North Bay of Bengal. Wind speed will be 120 km per hour from night of October 24 to morning of October 25.
Rain alert in these states…
According to the IMD, Odisha and West Bengal are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rains between October 22 and 26. Jharkhand will also experience rain on October 24. The impact of the cyclonic storm will be felt in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka. There is no chance of rain over northeast, central and northwest India during the next one week.
What will be the effect in Gujarat?
However, this storm will not affect the state of Gujarat. Talking about the latest weather conditions of Gujarat, the Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rain with thunder in scattered places of 17 districts out of 33 of the state today. Saurashtra, Central and South Gujarat districts may experience light rain.
