Every driver in India is required to follow all the rules of the Motor Vehicle Act, one of which is that every driver should have a valid driving license. Driving license is issued by rto and each license has a time period after which it has to be renewed. If your license has expired before 4 years then it can be renewed in this way.
Renewal can be done upto this number of years
Certain rules have been laid down for driving license under the Motor Vehicle Act. The duration of a driving license issued in India is up to 40 years. Then it has to be renewed after a fixed period. Let us tell you that the driving license is valid for 1 month after its expiry. You have to renew your driving license during that time. But if you don’t renew your driving license for one year then your driving license gets cancelled. In this case, if you have not renewed your driving license for 4 years, you will have to follow the same process as for obtaining a new license.

If your driving license has been expired for 4 years then you have to go through the whole process to get the license renewed.
For this you have to go to https://sarathi.parivahan.gov.in/.
Then select your state.
After this click on ‘Services on Driver’s License (Renewal / Duplicate / AEDL / Other)’ from ‘Driving License’ option.
Then fill the application form.
Then click on ‘Next’ option.
Then pay the fee for the same
First you will get a learning license
After doing this process online you have to go to the RTO office on the date you have taken with all the original documents and fee receipt. If your license has expired before 4 years then you will be issued learning license first. And when you go to get that full driving license, again you have to take the driving test.
